Follow Our 5 Tips To Increase Productivity

Tip #1 – Have ‘To do’ lists.

Let’s start with my favorite. If you have a clear list of things to do, you’re more likely to tackle them and avoid making up excuses or giving in to distractions. Awesome.

Create weekly and daily to do list. Every Sunday, sit down and write out a weekly to do list of things that you need to get done the following week in order to be on track to accomplish your goals. Then every night before you go to bed write out your daily to do list for the next day, based on what you need to get done to achieve your weekly to do list.

Easy business, you just made accomplishing your goals so much easier.

When you wake up each morning, read your to do list then get started on it, making sure you tackle the biggest task first.

Always the biggest task first. Get the big one out of the way before it has a chance to de-motivate you. Once you’ve finished your biggest, hardest task then everything else will seem like a tiny piece of cake that’s incredibly easy to devour.

Follow this and congratulations, you’ve just had your most productive day. Give yourself a pat on the back and keep it up :-).

Tip #2 – Pay the Devil.

This little beautiful idea came to me fully formed while I was sleeping. Isn’t the human mind amazing?

A lot of the time, I forget my dreams when I wake up but this one stuck with me and I’ve used it since to great effect.

It comes from the basis that nothing in life comes free. You want something then you have to earn it! I put it into the analogy of if you want to be free from “hell” and get to “heaven” (achieve what you want to achieve) then you have to pay the devil a cover charge for him release you and to allow you to become a more evolved version of yourself.

Now, I don’t believe in all that stuff, but there’s stuff power in the analogy so I stick with it, but if you think it’s too satanic then you can change it to what works for you.

Here’s what you do:

First decide on what it is that you want to accomplish. Then write on a piece of paper, or a post it note: “During the dates of *03.11.2014 and 09.11.2014* I vow to pay the devil the sum *30 hours labor* in order to accomplish *insert goal*”

And after each hour you work you would cross out the “*30 hours” and replace it with 29 Hours.

Where I’ve added the asterisks, that’s going to be the part you personalize to you.

Little bit strange? Yes, but I found it works. So give it a go and let me know how you get on.

Tip #3 – Turn off distractions.

Yeah, you heard me! This means if you don’t need the internet to work then completely turn off your internet connection, because believe me if it’s there then you’ll be tempted. Even better, take your laptop or work to a place where internet connection isn’t available (I know, I know. It’s 2014. Internet is available everywhere. Well, then don’t ask for the Wi-Fi password.)

If you need the internet for research, then put a blocker on certain web pages likely to distract you. Hint, hint… social networking sites. Just Google “Website distraction blocker” to find one.

Another distraction is emails, so turn them off too. You can waste a whole day replying to unimportant emails, which is going to get you nowhere! Have a specific time slot in your day where all you do is reply to emails and make people aware of when that time is. 1 hour in the morning is a good idea.

Send them an email saying you’ll only be applying to emails at this specific time and that if they need you urgently they can either call you or come see you personally.

Make sure the email is polite but also stressing that you will not be replying to emails at any other time of the day.

Tip #4 – Break it up.

Got a huge task that’s going to take ages to complete? Believe me; I know what it feels like. It can be incredibly disheartening, making you not even want to start it in the first place.

This is where breaking it up comes in handy. Set yourself reward intervals every 1 hour. These intervals you get 5 minutes to do what you want (you can even go against my advice in no. 3 and check your social networks) another great thing to do is to put on one of your favourite songs and listen to it then return back to your work.

This is where your self-discipline is going to be tested. It’s very easy to say “Just one more song” or “Just 2 more minutes”.

NO.

Set an alarm if you need to, but once those 5 minutes are up or that song has ended then its straight back to work to earn your next 5 minutes.

Earn you rewards; they’ll be much more satisfying.

Tip #5 – Switch up your mindset.

Ever had one of them moments, or even one of those days where you just don’t feel up to doing anything? Of course you have, it’s a silly question. You’re not alone we’re all guilty.

What it is is you’re in a negative state and your emotions are controlling your actions. Not good, my friends, not good… but fixable.

What you need to do is shock your nervous system and force it into a better, more productive state.

How do we do this? Exercise and positive self-talk.

First the exercise, I prefer push ups but any on the spot exercise will work.

While doing your exercise keep telling yourself some positive reinforcement. Something like:

“I love been so productive all the time”
“I’m going to make this work my bitch and complete it with ease”
“I always work hard”

Final Words

Add your own tips if you have some good ones, then just keep repeating it either out loud or in your head. Say it so you feel the emotion rushing through your body and replacing all the negative energy with positive life force.

I like add a swear word here and there when doing the positive self talk. I find it helps with the emotional response. But, do what works for you, man!
